Not News To Us But It Was To Travel & Leisure

Travel & Leisure magazine paid a recent visit to two of our local eateries and came away impressed. We think the healines give you an idea of how impressed. If you like, you can also visit both Five Islands and Lisa's from our Tours page. Of course, we recommend the non-digital lobster.

Coveside Bed and Breakfast Chosen for Coldwater Creek Photo Shoot

If some of the background shots in your Coldwater Creek catalog look vaguely familiar, it may be because Coveside Bed and Breakfast was used in a photo shoot in the fall of 2001. Most photographs in the catalog are used as background for clothing, and are out of focus and blurred, but we've recognized several images of Coveside in recent catalogs.

News stories from the 2001 season

Below are a few of the news stories from 2001.

The New Guest Cottage Opens!

Former guests at Coveside Bed and Breakfast will remember the "carriage house," which housed a garage and upstairs efficiency apartments. This structure was torn down at the close of the 2000 season, and has been replaced by a new guest cottage. The cottage has a lounge with fireplace and wet bar, a screened porch overlooking the water, and three guest rooms. We have thinned the trees, giving all the rooms in the cottage a fine view of the cove and of Sheepscot Bay.

We asked our architect to model the cottage -- inside and out -- on the turn-of the-century "summer only" cottages on the Maine coast. The two upstairs rooms are quite spacious, with cathedral ceilings (with ceiling fan), a large private deck overlooking the water, king-sized beds, and a sitting area in front of a fireplace. The downstairs room is a bit smaller, but with the same amenities.

Beyond the images of the Cottage posted in the Accommodations section of the site, we have additional photos of the Cottage reachable from the Tours page.

Yankee Magazine Chooses Coveside as an "Editor's Pick"

Yankee MagazineYankee Magazine's 2001 Travel Guide to New England includes Coveside Bed and Breakfast among the region’s lodging, restaurants, and other attractions that, according to the travel experts at Yankee Magazine, are "not to be missed." Here's what they had to say:

"What a view! The atrium and back deck are perfect spots to have breakfast and are great for simply lounging in the afternoon, too. In the winter of 2000-2001, the carriage house was renovated, creating two [note: now there are three] deluxe rooms with fireplaces and private decks."
